1- Establish the strategic objectives of your product or service.

Research your industry to find opportunities and gaps that can give you a competitive advantage. To find them, check what the media, analysts and competitors are focusing on.
Narrow your metrics to a few. Decide which ones will provide you with the best strategic information based on the time and energy it will take to capture, track and analyze them. (Too many data points cause confusion and can mask other insights that may arise. Stay lean! ).
Link these indicators to the specific strategic objectives you established in step 1. (If you need to adjust anything, now is the time.)
Finally, analyze and share the results with your executive interlocutors, showing that you provide evidence, and not just your intuition, for the decisions you make.
